Job Type
In Alike, you can perform three main types of jobs:
- Backup
- Restore
- Replication
In addition to these three major job types, there are other variants that will be discussed, such as Offsite Vaulting jobs (either Cloud-based and CIFS storage), Data Reclaim jobs, MetaData jobs, etc.
Enhanced & Q-Hybrid Jobs
For backup and replication jobs, Alike provides you with the choice of two powerful methods:
- Enhanced (Agentless)
- Q-Hybrid (Agent-Based)
The differences between these two methods are nuanced, but you may select either approach that works for you. This decision is ultimately based on your needs and environment.

What’s most important to note is that Q-Hybrid and Enhanced are 100% compatible, so you may protect your systems using different methods. Regardless of which method you choose to protect your systems, once a backup has been stored in Alike’s ADS, they are all indistinguishable, and all forms of recovery are always available to you.
